Getting started

Three minutes to your first job.

BulkGauge is a Shopify app. It works inside the admin you already use — nothing to download, nothing to import.

Free plan, no card. Paid plans are billed through Shopify on your existing invoice, from the moment you choose one.

STEP 01

Install from the Shopify App Store

One click from the listing. Shopify shows you the scopes BulkGauge asks for before anything is installed, and you approve them on Shopify’s own screen — not on ours.

STEP 02

Find BulkGauge in your admin sidebar

It appears as its own group below your store’s own sections, and a Bulk edit button appears above the products list. There is no separate window and no second login.

STEP 03

Filter, then click Bulk edit

Whatever your filter returns is the scope. The panel states it back to you as a count before you write a rule.

STEP 04

Preview, then apply

Read the before-and-after table. The button carries the number: Apply to 892 variants. It is a red button because it writes.

STEP 05

Undo, if you need to

Jobs stay in the list with an undo control for the length of your plan's window.

BulkGauge appears as its own group in the Shopify admin sidebar, below the store’s own sections, with Bulk edit selected

Permissions, and why

read_products / write_productsRead the catalogue to preview, write it to apply.
read_inventory / write_inventoryStock adjustments and the stock column in previews.
read_localesFormat prices and dates in your store's currency and timezone.
Theme app extensionCompliance plan only, for the storefront blocks. Never modifies theme code.

BulkGauge does not request order, customer or payout scopes.

Your team

Seats are per Shopify staff account, so there is nothing for a colleague to install — anyone with staff access sees BulkGauge when they open the admin, and every job is recorded against the account that ran it. Core includes 2 seats, Growth 5, and Scale and Compliance unlimited.

If something does not appear

The Bulk edit button is not in the toolbar

Reload the products page once after installing. If it still does not appear, check under Settings → Apps and sales channels that BulkGauge is installed and that your staff account has permission to use it.

The panel says my filter returns 0 products

BulkGauge reads the filter from the admin URL. If you selected products by checkbox rather than filtering, use "Select all matching this filter" first, or apply the filter itself.

A job failed with "inventory managed by another app"

A third-party fulfilment app owns that stock level, so Shopify rejects our write. Turn off external inventory management for those products and retry the failures, or change the quantities in that app instead.

I changed plan and my history got shorter

Retention follows the plan you are on now. Moving down shortens the window immediately; records older than the new window stop being readable, and are deleted at the end of the billing period. Export first if you need them.
